Website Privacy Policy

In the insurance industry the collection of personal information is an integral part of doing business. At S&V Planning Corporation we have always taken the privacy or our client’s personal information seriously and work hard to be an industry leader in both ethics and legal compliance. As such, we have developed a privacy policy around the 10 principles from the federal government’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act to ensure our adherence to all applicable laws.

TEN PRIVACY PRINCIPLES

Accountability - We are responsible for personal information under our control. We have designated individuals who are responsible for monitoring our ongoing compliance with the Privacy Principles.

Identifying Purposes – As specified by PIPEDA, we will identify reasons for collecting personal information before or at the time of collection. These purposes will be identified by us or by our authorized representatives.

Consent - The informed consent of a client is required before information is collected used or disclosed, subject to certain exceptions. Such exceptions include where legal, medical or security reasons make it impossible or impractical to seek consent. Consent may be expressed in writing, verbally, electronically, or through a representative. In certain circumstances it may also be implied.

Limiting Collection of Personal Information - Collection of information must be by fair and lawful means, and only that which is necessary to achieve the identified purposes may be collected.

Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention - Information may only be used or disclosed for the purposes for which it was collected, other purposes with consent, or where required by law. It may be kept for as long as necessary to satisfy both the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.

Accuracy - An organization must take reasonable steps to ensure that the information collected is accurate. Clients also have the right to review information concerning themselves in the organization’s files and to correct any inaccuracies found.

Safeguards - Personal Information shall be protected by security safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to protect from unwanted intrusion, release or misuse.

Openness - Information regarding our privacy policies shall be available upon request.

Access - Upon written request, clients will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information. They will be given access to it, subject to limitations, as permitted by law. They may also verify the accuracy and request an amendment if appropriate.
