S&V Planning is one of the leading Managing General Agencies in Western Canada today, servicing more than 700 advisors across the country. The reputation of S&V Planning has its roots in the professionalism and excellence of service our team has embraced for over 20 years.

The history of S&V Planning is a reflection of the successful career of Dennis Smith, the president and owner of S&V Planning Corporation, a wholly independent Managing General Agency.

Dennis entered the Insurance and Investment business 23 years ago as a personal producer. After 14 years of successfully building his own practice Dennis came across a new challenge: To take over an apparently doomed, 2-man insurance brokerage agency with 50 advisors and turn it around to put it on the map. Thus the birth of S&V Planning Corporation.

Today S&V Planning has 2 offices in British Columbia, 1 office in Alberta, 15 team members working at head office and partnerships across the country.

In 2007 S&V Planning undertook a new challenge: building an innovative business model to broaden the scope of solutions available to advisors. Thus the creation of Strata (Strategic Alternatives Inc.), a sister company that works together with S&V Planning in finding alternative investment opportunities not available through most MGAs.

After all these years the trust of our advisors and partners is a living testament to the hard work and commitment of our team.
